Enhancing the Labflow User Experience

Labflow University - 2021 - Demo

Here at Catalyst Education, we listen to our users. From the very beginning, we have sought feedback from our users about ways that we could improve our platform. This feedback helps us provide the best possible experience for educators and students alike, delivering powerful teaching and learning for higher education lab courses.

In our support menu, you’ll find the Labflow Idea navigation, which gives users the option to suggest an improvement. A popular suggestion we received from over 100 users was a calendar sync option. So, this spring, our development team got to work. Based on this insightful feedback from our users, the “Add to my Calendar” option was available in time for summer courses. Labflow users can now instantly add all due dates for the course directly to their calendar, which helps students stay on top of their assignments and promotes student success.

For fall 2021, the development team was even more ambitious! Although we still love our Card View, where content is arranged horizontally, many users suggested that a collapsible view would be helpful as they move further through the course.

Based on this feedback, the development team built the new List View, which is launching for FA21 courses. This new functionality allows users to toggle back and forth, providing the freedom and flexibility for Labflow users to work in whichever view is more comfortable for them.

Sample weeks

Within days of launching the new List View, instructors were already writing to tell us how much they loved the new flexibility. We get it—most of our employees are educators with lab-teaching experience as well. We know that when the tools used for teaching help get the job done more efficiently, educators are empowered. And when teachers are empowered, the next generation of instructors, scientists, and problem-solvers can be inspired to do great things.

Our goal at Catalyst is to improve lab education through the use of accessible, rigorous resources. We view our users as partners in education. We can’t wait to hear what you would like us to work on next!
